Dua puluh tahun sudah, Singgih Januratmoko secara totalitas sebagai peternak. Dikenal juga menjabat sebagai Ketua Umum Perhimpunan Insan Perunggasan Rakyat (Pinsar) Indonesia periode 2014 – 2019, rekan-rekannya mendorong Fungsionaris Pusat DPP Partai Golkar ini untuk berkontribusi lebih melalui parlemen.
Sebagaimana ditulis majalah Infovet, Pendiri dan pemilik Janu Putra Group ini dinyatakan berhasil melenggang ke DPR RI untuk periode 2019-2024 mendatang.
Pria kelahiran Sleman 7 Januari 1976 ini merupakan orang pertama dari kalangan peternak unggas rakyat yang akan duduk di DPR, setelah bertarung di Dapil Jawa Tengah meliputi Kabupaten Boyolali, Kota Surakarta, Kabupaten Klaten, dan Kabupaten Sukoharjo, melalui Partai Golkar.
Infovet pada Jumat, 15 Februari 2019 lalu berkesempatan berjumpa dengan Singgih di kawasan Jakarta Utara. Singgih mengatakan, tujuan utamanya menjadi anggota parlemen adalah memperjuangkan nasib peternak unggas rakyat yang selama ini menderita akibat harga unggas di peternak yang terus tertekan.
Berbincang santai, alumni Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan Universitas Gadjah Mada Yogyakarta ini bercerita awal mula merintis usaha ternak ayam.
Semasa kuliah, Singgih memang berkeinginan kuat untuk membuka usaha sendiri. Menciptakan lapangan kerja dan bisa berbagi dengan sesama merupakan tujuan utamanya.
Usai memperoleh gelar Strata Satu di tahun 1999, Singgih saat itu memulai usaha peternakan ayam kecil-kecilan. Tanpa disangka usaha ini dapat berkembang pada saat itu.
“Sebenarnya dulu bisa dikatakan saya meneruskan usaha ternak ayam layer milik ayah,” kata pria kelahiran Sleman, 7 Januari 1976 ini.
Selanjutnya, Singgih mulai mandiri beternak ayam broiler dengan pola kemitraan perusahaan (inti) dengan peternak (plasma).
Ketekunannya membuahkan hasil, hingga sudah memiliki puluhan kandang breeding farm dan hathcery yang terdapat di Wonosari dan Purbalingga, di bawah bendera Janu Putra Group.
Janu Putra Grup didirikan Singgih pada tahun 2002. Dua perusahaannya yaitu PT Janu Putra Sejahtera (Breeding dan Layer) dan PT Janu Putra Barokah (Kemitraan) telah berkembang pesat.
Sikapi dengan Tenang
Menurut Singgih, menjadi peternak ayam, tekun saja tidak cukup jika tidak dibarengi dengan kesiapan mental dalam menghadapi segala tantangan.
“Terpenting adalah kesiapan diri untuk bertahan di masa-masa sulit,” ujar suami Sova Marwati ini.
Masa sulit yang dimaksud, Singgih mencontohkan ketika ayam terserang penyakit, harga jual ayam rendah, hingga mahalnya harga pakan.
“Seperti sekarang nih, Harga Pokok Produksi (HPP) mahal sebisa mungkin menerapkan strategi supaya efisien semuanya,” tambah dia.
Lebih lanjut, ayah tiga anak ini mengatakan bahwa kendala teman-teman peternak sekarang adalah permodalan.
“Banyak bank yang sekarang ini tidak percaya, karena memang banyak kasus-kasus terdahulu yang kreditnya macet,” terangnya.
Imbuh Singgih, tepatnya tahun 2014 sampai tahun 2016 usaha breeding ayam mengalami masa masa berat dan banyak sekali peternakan closed house yang gulung tikar.
“Banyak yang akhirnya macet atau tidak terbayar sampai bank enggak percaya lagi,” katanya.
Selain persoalan modal, sambung Singgih, duka peternak ketika harga jual jatuh dan pasti ada rasa was-was dengan resiko penyakit seperti AI, IBH, dan harga jagung yang jatuh.
Sekilas flashback di tahun 2017 silam, sebanyak empat kandang berisi sekitar 30 ribu ekor ayam potong miliknya hangus terbakar.
“Betul ada masalah pada listrik waktu itu, namun ya kami belajar dari kejadian itu untuk lebih hati-hati ke depannya,” ujarnya.
Rintangan demi rintangan disikapi dengan tenang oleh Singgih. “Lebih banyak suka. Rasanya luar biasa dapat menikmati kerja keras dari usaha mandiri, kemudian bisa membuka lapangan kerja sekaligus berbagi ke sesama,” ungkap lulusan Magister Manajemen Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran, Yogyakarta ini.
Kampanye Gizi Terus Berlanjut
Bersama Pinsar, kampanye peduli gizi dengan mempromosikan ayam dan telur terus digelar di berbagai kota.
Mengaku senang, Singgih mengemukakan kalangan masyarakat seringkali memberi feedback usai kegiatan Hari Ayam dan Telur Nasional (HATN).
“Ada pastinya warga yang memberi tanggapan ke Pinsar dan minta kegiatan promosi ayam telur rutin dilaksanakan,” katanya.
Selain feedback dari warga masyarakat, terdapat juga peternak yang menyampaikan kepada Pinsar bahwa terjadi peningkatan daya beli ayam dan telur di pasaran.
Target penyelenggaraan HATN, tegas Singgih, bukan saja meningkatkan konsumsi ayam dan telur, namun juga memberi edukasi kepada masyarakat bahwa daging ayam aman dikonsumsi serta bebas dari suntikan hormon yang isunya selama ini beredar.
Peternakan Kerakyatan
“Peternak rakyat jangan sampai hilang dan harus terus berkembang lagi. Perjuangkan teman-teman yang masih bersemangat beternak mandiri,” tandas Singgih ketika ditanya harapannya pada masa depan peternakan Tanah Air.
Seiring dengan alih teknologi, diharapkan para peternak ayam secara perlahan tetapi pasti memperbaharui kandangnya menjadi closed house.
Singgih menambahkan, banyak orang lokal yang pandai membuat kandang ayam tanpa harus impor dari negara luar. “Kita bangun kandang ayam pakai brand lokal, banyak kok. Soal kualitas pun sudah layak,” sambungnya.
Penuh tekad, Singgih akan bekerja sungguh-sungguh untuk menghasilkan karya nyata yang dapat diterima semua masyarakat, guna meningkatkan derajat hidup rakyat khususnya petani dan peternak dengan berpegang kepada prinsip keadilan sosial. (NDV)
