PINSAR pada pekan lalu mencatat harga broiler di Jabar dan kawasan Jabodetabek cenderung melemah, dari Senin (14/12) Rp 19600/kg, Sabtu tercatat Rp 18800/kg, demikian juga terjadi di Cirebon dan sekitarnya turun dari Rp 19000/kg menjad Rp 18500/kg. Menurut narasumber PINSAR penurunan ini disebabkan oleh dampak tekanan yang diberikan oleh pedagang yang menerapkan strategi menahan pembelian di Kamis (17/12). Upaya menahan pembelian ini untuk menciptakan persepsi bahwa permintaan broiler sedang menurun. Hal ini tentu menimbulkan panic selling oleh peternak, pasalnya menjelang akhir pekan yang biasanya permintaan menguat, malah justru terjadi sepi permintaan. Situasi ini bergayung sambut dengan situasi di wilayah Pantura Jateng seperti Subang, Indramayu , Cirebon hingga Tegal yang dilaporkan banyak panen ayam.
Sementara itu di Jateng bagian timur dan Jatim, harga broiler cenderung mengalami stag. Di Semarang sepekan terakhir harga broiler tercatat bergerak di kisaran Rp 16500-16900/kg, dan di Surabaya Rp 17500-17800/kg. Situasi ini dilaporkan pelaku pasar disebabakan oleh banyaknya ayam dengan performa produksi yang jelek. Hal ini menyebabkan banyak ayam sakit beredar di pasar, sehingga menekan harga jual ayam. Keadaan yang tidak jauh berbeda terjadi di kota-kota P. Sumatera, Bali dan Lombok, meskpun dengan nominal harga yang berbeda.

Di pekan lalu, harga telur mencatat kanaikan yang cukup signifkan. Senin (14/12) harga telur di Jabodetabek Rp 19200 naik menjadi Rp 20500/kg. Kenaikan ini dipengaruhi kuatnya permintaan telur seiring masa libur akhir tahun dan adanya beberapa momen kegiatan keagamaan seperti Maulid Nabi dan Natal diduga mendorong permintaan telur oleh masyarakat naik.
Di sisi lain, naiknya harga bahan baku pakan seperti jagung yang kini mencapai Rp 5000/kg mendorong peternak layer yang memproduksi telur berkuat hati untuk menaikan harga produksinya. Seperti yang disampaikan oleh Athung peternak asal Tangerang yang merupakan sekjen PINSAR menyampaikan bahwa harga jagung kini menguat kembali dari sebelumnya Rp 4500/kg menjadi Rp 5000/kg. Ini membuat harga pokok produksi telur mengarah pada level Rp 20000/kg.
Kenaikan harga jagung beberapa bulan terakhir ini, merupakan dampak terhentinya impor jagung beberapa waktu lalu oleh Kementerian Pertanian RI. Tak ayal suplai jagung di pasar nasional menurun drastis dan mendorong jagung local terkerek naik tak terkendali.
