Manado ditetapkan sebagai Tuan Rumah peringatan Hari Ayam dan Telur Nasional (HATN) dan World Egg Day (WED) 2018 ke 8. Demikian dikemukakan Ketua Panitia Pusat HATN 2018 Ricky Bangsaratoe. Ia mengatakan, Manado sebagai ibukota Provinsi Sulawesi Utara dipilih sebagai tuan rumah HATN 2018 mengingat perkembangan ekonomi provinsi Sulut cukup pesat seiring dengan perkembangan wisata.
Diharapkan dengan pertumbuhan ekonomi pariwisata, maka pendapatan masyarakat makin meningkat dan konsumsi ayam dan telur di provinsi ini ikut terdongkrak. “Saat ini ada penerbangan langsung dari Tiongkok ke Manado, sehingga pertumbuhan wisatawan dari Tiongkok ke Manado tumbuh dengan pesat,” kata Ricky saat kunjungan ke Manado tanggal 12-15 Juli lalu. Ricky hadir ke Manado bersama wakil ketua panitia HATN Pusat Bambang Suharno yang juga Pimpinan Umum Majalah Infovet dan penasehat Forum Media Peternakan (Format).
Kunjungan dilakukan dalam rangka kordinasi dengan Pimpinan Manado Post, Dinas Pertanian dan Peternakan Sulawesi Utara, ASOHI Sulut, para peternak unggas dan pimpinan Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Sam Ratulangi (Unsrat).

Acara HATN dan WED di Manado pelaksanaannya akan dikelola oleh tim Manado Post dan didukung oleh semua stakeholder peternakan yaitu Dinas Pertanian dan Peternakan Sulut, ASOHI Sulut, Fakultas Peternakan Unsrat, para peternak unggas dan perusahaan bidang peternakan serta organisasi dan lembaga terkait lainnya.
Pada Jumat 13 Juli jam 7.30-9.00 dilakukan pertemuan pendahuluan di Hotel Best Western Manado antara Panitia HATN Pusat dengan kepala Dinas Pertanian dan Peternakan Novly Wowiling didampingi Hanna Olly Tioho (keswan & Kesmavet), jajaran pimpinan Manado Post (Tommy Waworundeng, Edy Marzuki), Ketua ASOHI Sulut Hariyanto. Selanjutnya siang sampai sore hari dilakukan pertemuan lebih lengkap di kantor Manado Post membahas perencanaan kegiatan HATN. Beberapa peternak unggas dan wakil dari perusahaan peerunggasan ikut hadir.
Sehari sebelumnya Ricky Bangsaratoe juga mengadakan pertemuan dengan Direktur Manado Post Marlon Sumaraw , mendiskusikan kerjasama pelaksanaan HATN dan WED 2018.
Menurut Ricky, kerjasama dengan Manado Post dilakukan berdasarkan pengalaman tahun 2017 dimana acara HATN 2017 di Lombok berjalan sukses dengan pola kerjasama dengan manajemen Lombok Post. Manado Post dan Lombok Post adalah media terbesar di wilayahnya yang merupakan group Jawa Post. Kerjasama dengan media lokal menjadikan kegiatan HATN terpublikasi dengan baik, sehingga misi untuk memberikan edukasi tentang manfaat ayam dan telur sebagai sumber gizi protein yang murah dan berkualitas dapat dicapai.
Manado Post memiliki media cetak harian, media online, stasiun TV Kawanua, serta memiliki jaringan kerjasama radio di wilayah Manado. Diharapkan kampanye ayam dan telur melalui kegiatan HATN 2018 dapat lebih luas jangkauannya di Sulut melalui media jaringan Manado Post.
Acara Puncak 20 Oktober 2018
Panitia sepakat bahwa acara puncak HATN 2018 akan dilaksanakan Sabtu 20 Oktober 2018 di lapangan Megamas, kawasan Manado Town Square (Mantos), merupakan lokasi strategis di dalam kota yang ramai dikunjungi masyarakat pada Sabtu pagi berbarengan dengan Car Free Day. Acara meliputi jalan sehat dan karnaval Ayam dan Telur, Senam Poco-poco dan Jantung Sehat, Bazaar murah ayam dan telur, pembagian paket telur dan ayam olahan, bazaar aneka produk, penyebaran flyer ayam dan telur, awarding (pemberian hadiah pemenang lomba), door prize dan panggung hiburan. Acara akan dibuka oleh Gubernur Sulut Olly Dondokambey.
Diperkirakan ribuan warga masyarakat akan hadir untuk acara HATN ini. Pada acara puncak ini diharapkan para pengurus Pinsar dan ASOHI (pusat dan daerah) serta para peternak hadir . Selain itu organisasi pangan dan pertanian dunia FAO perwakilan Jakarta menyatakan kesediaan untuk hadir dan siap sebagai narasumber pada seminar untuk ibu-ibu PKK maupun peternak.
Sebelum acara puncak, direncanakan akan diadakan kegiatan seminar di kampus Fapet Unsrat, aneka lomba untuk anak-anak, seminar/penyuluhan untuk ibu-ibu PKK dan seminar biosecurity khusus untuk peternak unggas.
Untuk Indoesia Cerdas
Panitia telah menetapkan tema HATN tahun 2018 ini yaitu “Ayam dan Telur untuk Indonesia Cerdas”. Selain di manado, di Jakarta juga dilakukan beberapa kegiatan, antara lain pemilihan Duta Ayam dan Telur, kompetisi blogger ayam dan telur, penyuluhan dan bakti sosial.
Pemilihan duta ayam dan telur dilakukan kerjasama Pinsar Indonesia dengan Forum Media Peternakan (Format). Direncanakan akan berlangsung bulan Agustus September 2018. Pemilihan Duta Ayam dan Telur pernah dilakukan tahun 2011 dimana waktu itu proses pemilihannya oleh tim Pinsar Indonesia. Saat itu terpilih Ayu Pratiwi (Putri Indonesia Pariwisata 2009 dan runner up Putri Indonesia 2009) dan Fernando Surya (L-men of The Year 2006) terpilih sebagai Duta Ayam dan Telur.
Pada tahun ini akan dilakukan proses pemilihan secara terbuka dimana dewan juri akan dipilih dari kalangan profesional. Pemilihan duta akan disertai dengan proses karantina, pembekalan pengetahuan praktis tentang perunggasan dan kunjungan ke industri perunggasan .
