Sekitar tahun 2009 Pinsar Indonesia sudah mulai merintis acara peringatan WED dalam bentuk aksi sosial membagi-bagi telur di Bundaran Hotel Indonesia, Jakarta. Selanjutnya tahun 2011 dicanangkan Hari Ayam dan Telur Nasional (HATN) oleh Menteri Pertanian Suswono di Parkir Timur Senayan pada sebuah acara Festival Ayam dan Telur yang merupakan acara bersama 14 asosiasi bidang perunggasan dan peternakan.
Para pimpinan asosiasi sepakat menyelenggarakan HATN, bukan hanya hari telur karena acara ini dimaksudkan untuk kampanye meningkatkan konsumsi ayam dan telur. Pada tahun 2013 acara HATN digabungkan dengan WED, sehingga sejak itu Pinsar Indonesia menyelenggarakan HATN sekaligus WED yang acaranya dipusatkan di daerah yang terpilih. Tahun 2013 di Denpasar, selanjutnya tahun 2014 di Makassar, tahun 2015 di Palembang dan tahun 2016 di Banjarbaru Kalsel.
Pada acara di Banjarbaru itu Pinsar melaporkan secara resmi kegiatan WED ke IEC agar acara tersebut diakui oleh lembaga resmi internaional. IEC menyambut baik acara-acara yang telah diselenggarakan Pinsar Indonesia dan beberapa waktu lalu kegiatan WED di Banjarbaru dimuat di web IEC, lengkapnya silakan klik di sini .
Selanjutnya Pinsar akan melaporkan kegiatan HATN dan WED yang dilaksanakan di Indonesia. Tahun 2017 ini HATN dan WED rencananya akan berlangsung di Lombok NTB.
